Do you love camping? You usually spend your weekends camping outdoors? But one day, you were bored and didn’t know what to do to have some fun. Then, you came home and asked yourself: “How could I forget to tell everyone to sit around the campfire roasting s’mores and listening to funny stories?” You know what, that is the most common pastime when it comes to camping. However, the problem is that you don’t have any chair, well, it’s time to show your talent. I mean, it’s time to learn how to make a simple chair for your next camping trip.
How to make a simple chair
Here are the instructions on how to build a simple chair, more specifically, these instructions will help you build a simple 3-legged chair. You can buy a camping chair but in my experience, building your own folding camping stool is not difficult at all. Actually, it just takes you one hour to build one. That’s why you can completely build several chairs for your whole family right in the outdoors.
Prepare the following items
- 3 wood rods, each 1 1/2 inches thick and 2 feet long
- Wood waterproofing material
- 1 sheet of canvas, 2 feet by 2 feet
- 3 large-head nails
Sandpaper the wood
Let’s get started with the sandpaper. Use the sandpaper to grind out any large bumps on the wood surface. Remember that if you don’t see any bumps, then this step will not be necessary.
Saw each of the rod
When you saw the corners of both ends of them, they will be angled
Angle the ends so that the rods will be parallel with each other. Never cut off any length in order to trim them.
Clean the sawdust off these rods
Clean the rods thoroughly, thus, there will be no sawdust on the surface. After that, use a paint brush to apply 2 coats of wood waterproofing material.
Arrange the rods
Arrange 2 of the rods lie next to each other and directly stack the last one on top, in the middle of the other 2 rods. In the end, they will be the legs of your camping chair, so make them perfect as much as you can, okay?
Wrap the rope
Wrap it fairly tightly around those 3 legs, however, just above the middle. Next, tie the rope with a secure knot. Just be patient, this is one of the last steps on how to make a simple chair, so keep moving.
Rotate the legs so that you can create a triangle-shaped area which can be better at the bottom than at the top.
Stretch the canvas
Stretch it across the tops of the 3 legs of your camping chair. Next, try your best to pull the sheet taut as much as possible and then nail it into place. If there is any excess material, just trim it off.
Rotate the legs
Rotate the rods backwards so as to fold the camping chair easier to transport as well as storage.
See? This is not that hard right? You can totally do it yourself. In my personal opinion, if you’re a real camper, then it’s very important for you to know how to make a simple chair. This way, you will never have to remember to check whether you’ve brought camping chairs for the trip or not. Hope you enjoy this article and found it simple to make your own camping chair for the next trip.
